ANNA says Thank You...
This record is so special to me because it represents a rebirth in my musical journey and a return to my roots.  After releasing my debut record, The Long Way (Asylum/Curb) it was time for me to take some time off and regroup—figure out what I really wanted to do and say musically.  After a couple years of soul searching and experiencing a lot of musical freedom, I started to rediscover the music I was raised on and loved the most—jazz vocal standards.  I began to write songs that sounded like they belonged “back in the day” but were brand new and all my own.  The result is Time Changes Everything.

Recording this record was the most fun I have had in years!  I was blessed with such talented musicians who I consider “family.”  I must first thank Monty Powell, my crazy-talented husband, co-producer, and co-writer.  Without your amazing skill set and beautiful dedication to my dream and my heart, I would be a lesser woman, artist, and human.  Thank you for all you do to make my life so blessed.

To Jeff Franzel, my newfound musical brother.  Your talent and friendship are a cherished gift—I will not step in the studio without you ever again.  To Scarlet Keys, “my best gal pal jazz sister.”  Thank you for slugging it out with me during those summer days in August while we wrote such fun tunes together and your only chance for a free pass from the hours of musical collaboration was our coffee breaks at the local Starbucks over an iced mocha latte.  Thank you to Chris Mann for such a special song and not being afraid to break the rules.

A very special thank you to my manager, Lisa Davis.  There is no one else I would even do this with!  We stumbled into this journey together, and I look forward to meandering through a maze filled with glorious adventures.  I could never thank you for all you do for me and all you are.  Thanks for believing and for keeping me company on this wild ride.

Thank you to the fantastic “jazz your azz band” – Sean Smith, Joe Scheibelhoffer, and Tyson Rogers.  You guys are truly family, and I look forward to many great times traveling the world and sharing memories together.  Thank you for all you do to make me look so good every night.

Special thanks to Bo Goldsen for always thinking out of the box – I love it!  Thanks also to Stacey Neisig and everyone at Criterion Music Publishing – all the amazing musicians who played on this record, Max Abrams, Mike Noble, Wayne Killius, Tim Akers, Justin Levenson, Rob McGaha, Vincent Ciesielski, Joe Murphy, Justin Neibank, Louis Levin, Brian Nelson, Michelle Nelson, Rosemary Carroll, Dieter Spears, Matt Mrowicki, Matt Troja, Kristin Barlowe, Doug Sax, Sangwook “Sunny” Nam, Jeffrey Holland, Zac Koffler, Chuck Wicks, Emma Grandillo, Dann Huff, and Keith Urban for the “p-jazz”.

A sincere note of thanks to my family – Mom, Dad’s watching down as time changes everything.  To my step-daughters, Suzannah and Rebekah, who have grown into being  good friends, rather than step-kids.  To my sister, Lisa, Tim, Sam, “Halo” Hayley, Grandma Anna, my Grandma Wilson, Mama Joy Powell, and m-bear.

xoxox forever,
ANNA
