THROUGH RELATIONSHIP WITH WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION, NASHVILLE SINGER-SONGWRITER TAKES SPECIAL MESSAGE TO LAUNCH A BUILD IN NEW ORLEANS AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
MUSICIANS’ VILLAGE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 17, 2007
NEW ORLEANS – Jan. 17, 2007 – Nashville singer-songwriter Anna Wilson performed her Habitat for Humanity-inspired single “A House, A Home” as part of the Whirlpool
Corporation’s North American Sales Meeting where Whirlpool Corporation joined Habitat for Humanity for a build in Musicians’ Village on January 17 in New Orleans.
Wilson first became aware of Whirlpool Corporation’s commitment to Habitat for Humanity through her involvement with the inaugural Whirlpool Building Blocks project held
in Nashville last November. She performed as a part of the Whirlpool Build Blocks Concert Series, which also included acoustic concerts on the Habitat construction site by
artists/writers Katrina Elam, Monty Powell and Craig Wiseman. Reba McEntire, Whirlpool Corporation’s Habitat for Humanity spokesperson also made a special appearance.
Inspired by the stories of the 10 partner families who became Habitat homeowners through Whirlpool Building Blocks’ five-day blitz build program, Wilson penned “A House,
A Home.” The song, which was debuted during the event’s Concert Series, became an anthem for Whirlpool Building Blocks, illustrating these first-time-homeowners’ journey
and realization of the American Dream.
“I am honored to share “A House, A Home” with the Whirlpool sales team, and I am inspired by their commitment to Habitat for Humanity,” said Wilson. “I hope that
my song continues to rally the creative community and the nation as a whole to remain engaged with the rebuilding effort in the Gulf Coast region and the work of Habitat
for Humanity throughout the world to eliminate substandard, poverty housing.”
“A House, A Home” conveys the true partnership between Habitat for Humanity, its partner family members and the larger community who comes together – not only to build
homes, but to build lives through the Habitat program,” said Jeff Terry, Whirlpool Corporation’s director of corporate commitment. Wilson inspires people to join Habitat
through the gift of her song, and everyone can help support the work of Habitat in their own communities. Whirlpool Corporation is pleased to take a leadership role in advancing
Habitat’s mission and is honored to donate a refrigerator and range to every new Habitat home built in North America.”
On February 13, Transfer Records will release Wilson’s sophomore effort Time Changes Everything. The record includes “A House, A Home” as a special piano/vocal
bonus track. All proceeds from the digital sale of this single will benefit Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity’s work to build homes for families displaced by hurricanes
Katrina and Rita who have relocated to Nashville/Davidson County. "A House, A Home” is available to download at no cost through the record’s February release by visiting
